The Partnership is delighted to announce a grant of $100,000 to the Gaelic Players Association (GPA) for their scholarship program.

This grant will support university scholarships for Gaelic players wishing to give back to their communities by pursuing careers in education. It will be made over four years through annual disbursements of $25,000.

GPA scholarships exponentially further the Partnership’s mission to empower the next generation of Irish leaders through education and community development. They give players the tools they need to be excellent educators, provide young students with top-notch teachers, and strengthen communities in the process.

Gaelic players are integral members of their communities. As prominent role models, they have a unique opportunity to connect with younger generations in an engaging and relevant way. This trait, when combined with proper university training, will only magnify their impact as teachers.

Many players’ experience with coaching and mentoring throughout their athletic careers inspires a love of teaching and a desire to enter the field of education. However, given the cost of university education and the rigorous demands of their amateur playing careers, a degree in teaching may feel out of reach. Financial support enables players to pursue their academic interests while continuing their Gaelic sports careers. Thus, the Partnership is committed to providing this gift of $100,000 to help players attain their goals of becoming educators in their communities.

With the help of the GPA, these scholarship will empower players, students, and communities to lead, grow, and learn together, creating a stronger Ireland for all.
