30th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Breakfast in Chicago

More than 400 friends, supporters, and partners joined the Irish American Partnership at the Union League Club of Chicago on Friday, March 14 for our landmark 30th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Breakfast Celebration.

A cornerstone of the Partnership calendar, this milestone gathering reflected the strength, pride, and enduring spirit of our community—bringing together leaders from across business, government, and the wider Irish-American network in celebration of our shared heritage and purpose.

Led by Master of Ceremonies Mary Sugrue, President & CEO of the Partnership, the morning opened with a warm invocation from Fr. Jack Clair.

We were honored to welcome United States Senator Richard J. Durbin, whose remarks reflected the deep and enduring ties between Illinois and Ireland, and the importance of continued transatlantic partnership.

Our distinguished keynote speaker, James Browne, T.D., Ireland’s Minister for Housing, Local Government & Heritage, addressed guests with thoughtful reflections on Ireland’s future and the vital role of the diaspora in supporting opportunity and progress across the island.

Guests also enjoyed remarks from New Orleans Saints kicker Charlie Smyth, whose personal story brought a unique and inspiring perspective to the morning.

As always, music played a central role in the celebration. The Shannon Rovers Irish Pipe Band led a rousing procession, joined by performances from Catherine O’Connell, Larry Nugent, Johnny Connolly, Cary Novotny, and Irish tenor Paddy Homan with Rich Daniels—creating a vibrant and memorable atmosphere throughout.

This special celebration would not be possible without the generosity of our sponsors and the continued commitment of our Chicago community. Your support enables the Irish American Partnership to invest in education, opportunity, and community initiatives across the island of Ireland.

We are deeply grateful to all who joined us to celebrate—and to those who continue to stand with us as we honor our heritage by investing in Ireland’s future.
