The Brehon Law Society of New York

Support the Brigadier General James P. Cullen Legal Fellowship – administered by KRW Law, LLP and the Brehon Law Society of New York.

The Brigadier General James P. Cullen Legal Fellowship is a unique opportunity for a student from a U.S. law school to spend the summer months interning with KRW Law, LLP in Belfast, Ireland.

The student fellow will be part of KRW Law’s work in the field of human rights law. This includes representing victims and survivors of the conflict in the fields of Coronial Law and Civil Litigation and interfacing with the criminal justice agencies that discharge the State’s obligations under Article 2 of the European Convention on Human Rights – including the Police Ombudsman’s Office and the Legacy Investigation Branch of the police.

Brigadier General James P. Cullen was a founding member and former President of the Brehon Law Society of New York. He was committed to peace and justice on the island of Ireland. Fittingly, this fellowship is named in his memory in recognition of his relentless pursuit of truth in relation to the State’s violation of human rights, particularly the murder of his friend, Patrick Finucane.

The annual fellowship is open to all students attending ABA accredited U.S. law schools. Ideally, the candidate will have a keen interest in Ireland from the period from 1969 through the present. Interested candidates should contact the Brehon Law Society of New York.
