Vice President of Development

VP of Development, New York Region

The Irish American Partnership is actively recruiting for a qualified individual to fill the position of Vice President of Development for the New York region. This position has direct impact on the organization’s reputation among donors, sponsors, and other constituents, as well as impacting the financial and operational performance of the Partnership.

The VP of Development will serve as a key member of the Partnership team, responsible for meeting the Partnership’s annual fundraising goals for the New York region. The VP of Development will consistently engage a portfolio of individual donors, corporate patrons, and new prospects, implementing strategies to cultivate, solicit, and steward donors toward annual, endowed, and planned gifts that support the organization’s mission.

Reporting to the Irish American Partnership President & CEO, this position will help achieve the vision and long-term priorities set forth in the Partnership’s strategic plan.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of individual donors; apply moves management best practices to secure five, and six-figure gifts.
  • Create and implement a comprehensive development strategy for the region, identifying, cultivating, stewarding, and soliciting inactive and prospective donors, and corporate sponsors capable of significant philanthropic support. Collaborate with the Partnership team to support donor cultivation, stewardship activities and events.
  • Promote the annual Business Leaders Breakfast in New York, as well as additional gatherings and cultivation opportunities such as golf tournaments, Women’s Leadership events, Young Partners events, and stewardship events as required.
  • Record activities and update information in Blackbaud NXT CRM to ensure accuracy and upkeep of constituent records, pipeline development, driving lead generation.
  • Act as the Partnership representative in the region, building relationships and actively participating in select networking and community events and organizations.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5-7 years of fundraising experience and demonstrated success in securing gifts at the five and six figure levels.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a passion for building and maintaining relationships.
  • Strong verbal and written communications with the ability to present.
  • Comfort navigating and engaging diverse individuals, proven ability to interact and influence philanthropic leaders and senior executives.
  • Advanced proficiency of a CRM database (Blackbaud NXT preferred), Microsoft Office Suite and other computer skills as required.
  • High level of discretion and ethical approach to fundraising.
  • Appreciation of the Partnership mission and the ability to authentically articulate the vision and goals.
  • Knowledge of Irish America, Irish affairs and the nonprofit landscape.

Conditions of Employment

Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States (visa required.) The VP of Development position is full-time. The Irish American Partnership offers a competitive salary and benefits package.

Work Environment

This position is based in New York City. The Partnership is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts and currently works from the office (with flexibility).

  • Several hours a week may be spent traveling to meet with donors.
  • Special events may take place during evening/weekend hours.
  • Occasional international travel may be required (Ireland).
