Support Nth\Works & the North Belfast Digital Hub Foundation

What is Nth\Works?

Founded within St. Malachy’s College, the North Belfast Digital Hub Foundation is leading the development of Nth\Works, a digital education enrichment center that will serve the entire North Belfast education community. Plans are underway to transform a local derelict building into a permanent, purpose-built space for digital education, industry partnerships, and community empowerment.

A significant majority of students attending schools in the North Belfast Area Learning Community reside in areas ranked among the most deprived in Northern Ireland. For young people growing up in areas of such concentrated deprivation, the absence of digital skills, devices, and confidence compounds existing inequalities and limits life chances.

Nth\Works is designed to expand access to digital learning for thousands of young people in North Belfast and prepare them for the future world of work – a world shaped by AI, creativity, and human skills. A shared digital innovation space, Nth\Works will bring students from schools across North Belfast together to learn with and from one another, developing the skills they need to thrive in a digital future.

Nth\Works will also act as a live innovation lab for future curriculum design, providing insights to help shape Northern Ireland’s education system for a future where human and digital skills must co-exist.

About the North Belfast Digital Hub Foundation

The mission of the North Belfast Digital Hub Foundation is to tackle digital poverty through structured, school-based, extra-curricular learning opportunities for young people in North Belfast. The Foundation’s mission flows from a simple but urgent recognition: digital exclusion is not a technical problem – it is a social justice issue.  The Foundation works to address the acute and persistent digital exclusion faced by young people in North Belfast.

With funding from the Mary Anne McCracken Foundation, the Foundation launched a successful three-year pilot program in the North Belfast Digital Hub in St. Malachy’s College. Now, the Foundation is seeking to consolidate, scale, and sustain its proven model of school-based digital learning delivered through strategic partnerships with post-primary schools across North Belfast.
