Proposal

We are a DEIS Band 1 all boys school in the heart of the Liberties in Dublin 8. We have boys from aged 8 to 12. We have very low literacy rates for various reasons, but mainly the children in our school are very impacted by poverty. As such we have a policy of immersion in literacy and have a very specific literacy curriculum as our children. We teach a graded literacy programme with our 8 and 9 year olds. This programme is called PM Plus. With the use of this programme, we have managed to increase our literacy levels from 33% below the 20th percentile to 18%. However, the books are very expensive, and we need new non fiction books for our 2nd class boys.
