EXECUTIVE PRODUCER AND AWARD-WINNING ACTOR, GERALDINE HUGHES

Born in West Belfast, Geraldine Hughes has appeared in films such as Duplex, Rocky Balboa, and Gran Torino. She also played Mary Todd Lincoln in Killing Lincoln. More recently, she performed a solo play written by herself, Belfast Blues.

Hughes grew up in the Divis Flats in Belfast, Northern Ireland, during The Troubles. To get herself through the tough times, Hughes participated in her school’s drama club. She loved St. Louise’s Comprehensive College school, saying it made her feel safe and she enjoyed the structure it provided. It was where she escaped from The Troubles. After being chosen for her role in the film Children in the Crossfire, Hughes spent her first summer in the United States.

Later, she attended the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA) with a private scholarship from those she worked with in the film Children in the Crossfire. Hughes graduated from the university with a BA from the School of Theater, Film, and TV. And in 2009, Queens University in Belfast awarded Hughes an honorary doctorate for her contributions to the performing arts. Her performances of this play are dedicated “to all the children who live in places of conflict.

Geraldine Hughes has received the Los Angeles Ovation, Garland and Drama Critics Circle Awards and a Drama League Award Nomination for Outstanding Performance for her solo play Belfast Blues, which she also wrote.

Her stage credits include: Harry Potter And The Cursed Child, as Professor McGonagall, Jerusalem, opposite Mark Rylance (Broadway and West End). Other theater credits include: Particle Of Dread (opposite Stephen Rea), Cyrano De Bergerac (Broadway), Translations (Broadway), Molly Sweeney (Irish Repertory Theatre), Pumpgirl (MTC), Orson’s Shadow, The Cripple of Inishmaan, The Weir, and The Architect.

Television credits include: Your Honor (recurring) Kevin Can Wait, Law and Order OC and SVU, The Blacklist (recurring), Blue Bloods, Nurse Jackie, Mercy, The Good Wife, Law and Order CI, Law & Order, Murder, She Wrote: The Celtic Riddle, ER.

She has starred in several features including The Book Of Henry, Time Out Of Mind, Gran Torino, Rocky Balboa and in National Geographic’s Killing Lincoln, and most recently Nine Days, with Winston Duke and Benedict Wong. She is currently an Executive Producer on the film The Last Rifleman, starring Pierce Brosnan, and is Lead Producer on the film In The Land Of Saints And Sinners, starring Liam Neeson and Ciarán Hinds.
